Graph a Two-Variable Relationship

A two-variable relationship connects input x values and output y values in a rule.

Do this: Read the concept below, then try the quiz or activity.

Lesson 204 of 216

Concept

Use a table: Example rule: y = 2x + 1

x: 0, 1, 2, 3 y: 1, 3, 5, 7

Plot points: (0,1), (1,3), (2,5), (3,7)

If the change is constant, points form a line. This helps model real situations like cost vs quantity.

Try it

Use the rule and graph: 1. y = x + 4 for x=0,1,2,3 2. y = 3x for x=1,2,3,4 3. y = 10 - x for x=0,2,4,6 4. Which relationship has greatest rate of change?
