Concept
Every place is 10 times the place to its right. Whole number side: - ones, tens, hundreds, thousands... Decimal side: - tenths, hundredths, thousandths... Examples: - In 43,216, the 4 means 40,000. - In 7.428, the 4 means 0.4 and the 2 means 0.02. Key relation: 1 tenth = 10 hundredths 1 hundredth = 10 thousandths
