Addition Sentences: Which Model Matches?
π You're a math detective again! This time, you have the secret code (the number sentence), and you have to find the picture (the model) that it describes. Let's match them up!
Concept
A number sentence like **3 + 5 = 8** is a short way to tell a math story. A model is a picture of that story. Your job is to connect the sentence to the right picture. π― **How to Match Sentences and Models:** 1. **Read the Sentence:** Look at the number sentence, for example, **4 + 2 = 6**. 2. **Break it Down:** This sentence means "a group of 4 plus a group of 2 makes a total of 6." 3. **Look at the Models:** Examine each picture or model carefully. 4. **Find the Match:** Look for a model that shows a group of 4 things and a group of 2 things. Count them all to make sure the total is 6. **Example:** **Sentence:** 2 + 5 = 7 Which model matches? * **Model A:** βοΈβοΈ and βοΈβοΈβοΈ (2 stars and 3 stars) -> Total 5. Nope. * **Model B:** βοΈβοΈ and βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ (2 stars and 5 stars) -> Total 7. Yes! This is the match! * **Model C:** βοΈβοΈβοΈ and βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ (3 stars and 4 stars) -> Total 7. Tricky! The total is right, but the groups (3 and 4) don't match the sentence (2 and 5). The model has to match the parts AND the whole!
Try it
