But when they are mixed together, it's a whole new challenge! šÆ **The "Sign Check" Rule:** The #1 biggest mistake kids make in mixed practice is doing the wrong operation! 1. **Look at the sign FIRST.** Is it a plus (+) or a minus (-)? 2. **Lock it in your brain.** Say it out loud: "This is PLUS. I am making it bigger." 3. **Choose your trick.** If it's addition, maybe "Make 10". If it's subtraction, maybe "Count backward". 4. **Solve!**
