In decimal money: - 1 dollar = 1.00 - 1 dime = 0.10 - 1 cent = 0.01 šŸ’µ Examples: - $3.47 means 3 dollars, 4 dimes, 7 pennies - $0.89 means 89 cents - $12.05 means 12 dollars and 5 cents Place value link: - tenths place = dimes - hundredths place = pennies So 4.2 dollars = $4.20

Try it

Convert between money and decimals. 1. Write $6 and 35 cents as a decimal. 2. Write 0.75 dollars as cents. 3. Which is greater: $2.09 or $2.90? 4. Add: $3.45 + $1.20 5. Subtract: $10.00 - $6.38 šŸ›’ Word problem: 6. You buy a juice for $1.75 and a sandwich for $3.40. You pay with $10. How much change do you get?
