Value of a digit - tens and ones
A digit has different value based on where it stands: tens place or ones place.

Concept
In two-digit numbers: - Left digit is tens. - Right digit is ones.
Example: 58 - 5 means 5 tens = 50 - 8 means 8 ones = 8
Example: 34 - 3 means 30 - 4 means 4
Same digit, different value: - In 72, the 7 means 70. - In 27, the 7 means 7.
