If no regrouping or smashing is needed, vertical subtraction is faster than lightning.
π― The Stacking Rules: Example: 78 - 45 = ? 1. Stack Em! Write the 78. Write the 45 perfectly underneath. 7 8 - 4 5 -------- 2. Right Side First! ALWAYS begin in the Ones column. * 8 - 5 = 3. Write the 3 at the bottom. 3. Left Side Next! Now subtract the Tens column. * 7 - 4 = 3. Write the 3 at the bottom. 4. Answer: 33!
