Match Analog and Digital Clocks

šŸ”„ Translation time! You see the spinning hands. Now write exactly what a glowing digital clock would say.

Lesson 3

Concept

This is the ultimate test of reading a classic clock. But there is a massive trap waiting for you. šŸŽÆ **The "Almost There" Trap:** Look at an analog clock that says **7:50**. 1. **The Long Hand:** It's pointing at the 10. (10 x 5 = 50 minutes!). Easy. 2. **The Short Hand:** Look at it carefully. It is pointing ALMOST EXACTLY at the 8! 3. **The Trap!** If you write "8:50", you are wrong! Because it is currently 50 minutes into the hour, the slow, short Hour-hand is moving towards the 8... but it isn't 8 yet! It is still technically 7! If the Hour hand is stuck exactly between two numbers... **ALWAYS PICK THE SMALLER NUMBER!** (Unless it is between 12 and 1... then pick 12!).

Try it

Don't get trapped by the slow hand! **Instructions:** Trace the short hand. Is it past the number? Pick the smaller number! Then count the fast hand by 5s. **Problem 1:** Short hand is exactly between 4 and 5. Long hand is pointing at 6. * Hour trap! Pick the smaller number! Hour: 4. * Minutes: pointing at 6 (6 x 5 = 30). * Digital Time: _:__ **Problem 2:** Short hand is almost touching the 11. Long hand is pointing at the 9! * Hour trap! It looks like 11... but it hasn't reached it! Hour: 10. * Minutes: Pointing to 9 (9 x 5 = 45). * Digital Time: 10:__ **Problem 3:** Short hand is between 1 and 2. Long hand points to 3. * Digital Time: 1:__ **Problem 4:** Short hand is between 12 and 1. Long hand points to 4. * (Remember the 12 rule! When between 12 and 1, pick 12!). * Digital Time: 12:__
