Convert to/from a Number - Tens and Ones
š§© Break it apart and put it back together! You can pull a 2-digit number apart into "tens" and "ones" like taking apart a puzzle block.
Concept
A two digit number, like **47**, is actually made of two puzzle pieces squished together. šÆ **Breaking it Apart (Expanded Form):** * Look at the 4. It's in the "Tens" place. Four tens is really the number 40. * Look at the 7. It's in the "Ones" place. Seven ones is just the number 7! * Putting it together: **4 tens and 7 ones = 40 + 7 = 47**. šÆ **Squishing it Together (Standard Form):** If someone says "I have 8 tens and 3 ones," you just squish the numbers together! Put the 8 in the front, and the 3 in the back. * **8 tens and 3 ones = 83!**
