Regroup tens and ones

Regrouping means trading 10 ones for 1 ten, or 1 ten for 10 ones.

Lesson 4

Concept

Base-ten rule: 10 ones = 1 ten Examples: - 14 ones = 1 ten and 4 ones - 2 tens and 13 ones = 3 tens and 3 ones - 4 tens and 0 ones = 40 This helps in addition and subtraction with regrouping.

Try it

Regroup: 1. 16 ones = __ ten(s) and __ one(s) 2. 2 tens and 15 ones = __ tens and __ ones 3. 1 ten and 12 ones = __ tens and __ ones 4. 37 = __ tens and __ ones
