Create and interpret line plots with fractions

Line plots help organize measurement data. Fractions make them even more interesting.

Do this: Read the concept below, then try the quiz or activity.

Lesson 184 of 220

Concept

How to create a fraction line plot: 1. Draw a number line with fraction marks (like 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1). 2. For each data point, place an X above its value. 3. Count X marks to answer questions.

Example data (in cups): 1/4, 1/2, 1/2, 3/4, 1, 3/4

Questions you can answer: - How many data points are 3/4? - What value appears most? - What is the total?

Try it

Use data: 1/2, 1/4, 3/4, 1/2, 1, 1/4, 3/4. 1. Create a line plot. 2. Which value appears most? 3. How many values are at least 1/2? 4. How many more 1/4 values than 1 values are there?
