Find equivalent fractions using fraction strips

Build equivalent fractions! 🧱 Use the fraction wall to visually piece together smaller blocks that perfectly match the size of a bigger block.

Lesson 1

Concept

Fractions can look totally different but actually be exactly the same size! These are called **Equivalent Fractions**. For example, if you eat 1/2 of a pizza, that's exactly the same amount of food as eating 2/4 of a pizza, or 4/8 of a pizza. The slices are just cut smaller, but the total amount of pizza doesn't change! Using a fraction wall makes this super easy to see. If you line up two 1/4 blocks, they perfectly match the length of one 1/2 block.

Try it

Let's build some fractions! **Instructions:** Use the toolbox to drag fraction pieces onto your shelf to match the target fraction length exactly! **Problem 1:** Try to match the target fraction of 1/2 using the 1/6 blocks. How many do you need? * Answer: ___
