Lesson 9 of 180

Concept

When adding two numbers together, you don't need to start from 1.

๐ŸŽฏ The "Count On" Trick: If you want to solve 6 + 3, you don't need to count 1,2,3,4,5,6... and then 7,8,9. 1. Find the bigger number: In 6 + 3, the bigger number is 6. 2. Put that number in your head: Think "6". 3. Count on the smaller number: Hold up 3 fingers. Say "6"... then put down a finger and say "7", "8", "9". 4. The last number you say is the answer! So, 6 + 3 = 9.

This trick saves so much time! It also works even if the small number is first. For 2 + 7, start at 7 and count on 2: "7... 8, 9".
