An "addition fact" is a basic addition problem like 2+3=5. The goal is to know these answers so quickly that you don't even have to count!
🎯 Superhero Strategies to Memorize Facts: 1. Count On: For facts with +1, +2, or +3, just count on from the bigger number. (e.g., for 7+2, think "7... 8, 9!") 2. Use Doubles: You already know 4+4=8! Use that to solve "near doubles" like 4+5 (it's just one more, so 9!). 3. Make Ten: This is a super strategy! For 8+4, think "8 needs 2 to make 10. Take 2 from the 4, leaving 2. So, 10+2=12." 4. Turnaround Rule: If you know 3+6=9, you also know 6+3=9!
You don't have to learn 100 different facts. If you learn the strategies, you can figure them all out!
💡 Example: Solving 4 + 5 * Method 1 (Count On): Start at 5, count on 4 more: "6, 7, 8, 9". The answer is 9. * Method 2 (Use Doubles): You know 4+4=8. Since 5 is one more than 4, the answer must be one more than 8. It's 9! * Method 3 (Turnaround): Maybe you know 5+4=9 already. The turnaround rule says 4+5 is the same thing!
