Read Clocks and Write Times
๐ You are a timekeeper! It's time for the ultimate test: look at any clock face and accurately write down the correct time.
Do this: Read the concept below, then try the quiz or activity.
Concept
It's time to put all your clock skills together. To write times perfectly, you must follow the steps like a true timekeeper.
๐ฏ The Timekeeper's Checklist: 1. Find the Minutes First: Look at the LONG hand. * Is it pointing at 12? Your written time will end in :00. * Is it pointing at 6? Your written time will end in :30. 2. Find the Hour Next: Look at the SHORT hand. * If it's pointing exactly at a number, write that number. * If it's floating between two numbers, pick the smaller number (the one it just passed). Exception! If it is between 12 and 1, the hour is 12! 3. Write It Down: Write the Hour, your colon dots ( : ), and the Minutes!
Example: The long hand is on the 6. (Minutes = :30) The short hand is between 8 and 9. (The hour it just passed is 8). The time is 8:30.
