Compare Size, Weight, and Capacity
š How heavy is a hippo? How much water fits in a bathtub? Let's explore how to measure weight and capacity!
Concept
We measure different things in different ways. We already learned length (how long) and height (how tall). šÆ **Weight (How Heavy):** When we pick something up, we feel its weight. * We use the words: **Heavy, Heavier, Heaviest** and **Light, Lighter, Lightest**. * A bowling ball is heavy. A feather is light. šÆ **Capacity (How Much It Holds):** When we fill a container with liquid (like water) or sand, we measure its capacity. * We use the words: **Holds More**, **Holds Less**, or **Holds the Most / Least**. * A bathtub holds more water than a teacup. A swimming pool holds the most water! When comparing size, always ask yourself: Am I measuring how heavy it is, or how much stuff fits inside it?
