Match Digital Clocks and Times

ā° Digital clocks are everywhere! Let's learn the secret code of the dots to quickly read what time it is on a screen.

Lesson 1

Concept

A digital clock shows the time using numbers on a screen, like on a microwave, a phone, or in a car. šŸŽÆ **Reading the Digital Code:** A digital clock has numbers on the left, a colon (the two dots : ), and numbers on the right. **Example: [ 8 : 00 ]** 1. **The Hour:** Look at the number on the left before the dots. This is the Hour. In this example, the hour is 8. 2. **The Minutes:** Look at the numbers on the right after the dots. This tells you the minutes. If it says "00", it means "o'clock"! 3. **Read it out loud!** This clock says "Eight o'clock". **Example: [ 10 : 30 ]** * Hour: 10 * Minutes: 30 * Read it: "Ten thirty".

Try it

Be a digital detective! **Instructions:** Look at the digital clock and write how you would say the time out loud. **Problem 1:** [ 3 : 00 ] * How to say it: "Three _________________" **Problem 2:** [ 7 : 30 ] * How to say it: "Seven ________________" **Problem 3:** [ 12 : 00 ] * How to say it: "Twelve _______________" **Problem 4:** Your friend says "Let's play a game at Five Thirty!" Write that time like a digital clock does! * [ ___ : ___ ]
