Find values using function graphs

You can use the graph of a function to find the output for a given input, and vice versa.

Concept

To find f(x) for a given x: 1. Find the x-value on the x-axis. 2. Go up or down to the graph. 3. Go across to the y-axis to find the corresponding y-value.

To find x for a given f(x): 1. Find the y-value (f(x)) on the y-axis. 2. Go across to the graph. 3. Go up or down to the x-axis to find the corresponding x-value.
