Lesson 116 of 186

Concept

Most of the time, we write numbers with digits (452). But sometimes, you legally have to write things out in English!

🎯 The Check Writer Strategy: Number: 386. Read it exactly as you would speak it, and spell the words out.

1. Hundreds Block: Look at the 3. Write exactly what it is. "Three hundred". 2. Tens Block: Look at the 8. It's an 80, so write the "ty" word. "eighty". 3. The Hyphen Rule! Always put a tiny dash (a hyphen) between the Tens word and the Ones word! 4. Ones Block: Look at the 6. "six". 5. Final Answer: "Three hundred eighty-six".

🎯 The Teen Nightmare: If the middle number is a 1, burn the hyphen rule. You just use the "teen" word. 314 -> "Three hundred fourteen".

Try it
