Lesson 3 of 186

Concept

To order numbers from least to greatest: 1. Look at the tens digit first. 2. If tens are the same, compare ones. 3. Place numbers from smallest to largest.

Example: 47, 39, 45, 52 - 39 has 3 tens, so it is smallest. - 45 and 47 both have 4 tens, compare ones: 5 < 7. - 52 has 5 tens, so it is largest. Order: 39, 45, 47, 52.

For greatest to least, do the opposite.

Try it

Order these numbers: 1. 28, 31, 19, 24 (least to greatest) 2. 67, 76, 62, 70 (greatest to least) 3. 45, 54, 44, 55, 40 (least to greatest) 4. Write three numbers between 36 and 42 in order.
