Number words are math spelling. Convert words to digits by listening for tens and ones.

Concept

Number words tell place value: - "forty-two" means 4 tens and 2 ones -> 42 - "sixty" means 6 tens and 0 ones -> 60 Helpful pattern: - twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, sixty, seventy, eighty, ninety - Add ones after a hyphen: twenty-one, thirty-six, ninety-nine. If you hear just one word like "seven," write 7. If you hear a tens word and an ones word, combine them.
