Name Polygons (Up to 6 Sides)

šŸ›‘ The Greek Naming Code! Ancient scientists used secret code words to name shapes. "Poly-Gon" just means "Many-Corners".

Lesson 4

Concept

If a shape has straight, closed sides, it is a Polygon! Let's learn the names of the shapes by counting their sides. šŸŽÆ **The Polygon Dictionary:** * **3 Sides:** Triangle ("Tri" means 3. Like a Tricycle! 🚲). * **4 Sides:** Quadrilateral ("Quad" means 4. Like a 4-wheel Quad bike! 🚜). * *(Squares and Rectangles are both just special types of Quadrilaterals).* * **5 Sides:** Pentagon ("Penta" means 5). * **6 Sides:** Hexagon. ("Hex" means 6. Both words have an 'X' in them! ⬔). A STOP sign is none of these! A stop sign has 8 sides! (Octagon... like an Octopus! šŸ™).

Try it

Crack the shape names! **Instructions:** Count the sides. Remember the secret Greek prefixes (Tri, Quad, Penta, Hex). **Problem 1:** A perfect square has 4 sides.
