Convert between standard and expanded form

Expanded form shows how a number is built from place values. Standard form puts it back together.

Standard form is the normal way: 38,406 Expanded form breaks it apart: 30,000 + 8,000 + 400 + 6 Why this helps: - You see each digit's value clearly - It makes adding and comparing easier Convert to expanded: 64,902 = 60,000 + 4,000 + 900 + 2 Convert to standard: 50,000 + 2,000 + 70 + 9 = 52,079
